'Serving people wholeheartedly'
Luo Zhijun became governor of Jiangsu Province on January 31. Prior to that, he served as mayor of Nanjing and then as Nanjing Party secretary. Luo described himself as "typical" of China's new generation of leaders who were born after 1949 and "brought up under the red flag".
In his various leadership roles, Luo said, he has devoted himself to "serving the people wholeheartedly".
During his many trips abroad, he has been struck by the fact that there are still gaps between China and the West in economic, scientific and technological development. At the same time, Luo said, many foreign countries have seen China's rapid development and are eager to cooperate with China. This inspires the Jiangsu governor to work harder to help build a strong nation.
Governor Luo has a full work schedule and little spare time, so he has no special hobbies. What he does like to do, he says, is "to go down to the grassroots" to interact with the common people. Their combination of innovative spirit and practical experience is inspirational, reliable and instructive for him, Luo said.
