Thousands stranded
More than 4,000 people in the Xinjiang Urgur autonomous region have been left stranded by sandstorms, Urumuqi railway station sources said yesterday.
Sandstorms measuring 12 on the Beaufort scale began to hit southern Xinjiang from 10 am yesterday, the Chinese News Service said.
