Daughter-in-law driven to murder by sexist taunts

The daughter-in-law, surnamed Gao, of a 72-year-old man surnamed Shang, who was overtly chauvinistic in his estimation of the value of sons over daughters, recently beat him to death at his home in the city of Nanyang, Henan province.

Gao, 36, from Hubei province, married Shang's son in the city's Zhenping county 10 years ago. She had borne Shang's resentment of her, expressed in scoldings and beatings, for giving birth to three daughters, for years.
