Bush 'honored' to attend Games, against politicizing event
WASHINGTON: US President George W. Bush said on Wednesday he will be honored to attend the Beijing Olympics and has no intention of politicizing the event.
"The message of my visit to China is that both I and America respect the Chinese people, the history and the tradition, and I'm honored to have been invited to the Games," Bush told reporters from China, Thailand and the Republic of Korea at the White House, ahead of his upcoming visit to the three countries.
"And I made a decision not to politicize the Games; this is for athletics," he added.
