Student bone marrow donor finds a match

Zhu Qianyu, 21, a college student in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province, was overjoyed at the news that her bone marrow could help save the life of an 8-year-old girl in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, who has leukemia.

Zhu became a volunteer bone marrow donor in June, 2006, upon entering a local college. Her hematopoietic stem cells were found to match those of the 8-year-old girl in April, 2008. Zhu is Shaanxi's 52nd bone marrow donor, and the country's 20th college student donor.
