The US House of Representatives adopted a resolution on Wednesday, which, citing the "Olympic traditions of freedom and openness", criticized China on human rights issues. "The resolution was a groundless accusation, and was not only against the Olympic spirit but also against the wishes of people and athletes all around the world, including the United States," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said. Sino-Russian energy talks China and Russia will launch high-level talks aimed at encouraging energy cooperation between the two giant neighbors, spokesman Liu announced yesterday. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin would visit China tomorrow and on Sunday for talks with Vice-Premier Wang Qishan, Liu said. Liu called the launch of the two nations' vice-premier-level "energy negotiations mechanism" an important step that would help them "jointly plan energy cooperation."
