New supply pipeline for key projects

China has set up a new joint company to supply construction materials to key State projects.

The measure is aimed at ensuring a smooth flow of supplies to key projects, and constitutes a major reform in China's material supply system.

The company was formed jointly by government ministries and bureaus and the People's Construction Bank. It will provide on-site service, and supervise and inspect the management and use of materials supplied under contract in order to prevent overstocking and waste.

Construction of the park is part of the city's efforts to protect the city while carrying out modernization plans, according to the Xi'an Construction Department.

The park, composed of the Xi'an city wall, a river, roads and forests, will cover an area of 3.6 sq km. It is expected to be opened by the end of 1983.
