The farmer, Cai Xiaohua, left education after junior middle school. He has since done casual work in various places. Cai found a job as security guard in June last year at the English school in Guangzhou where Tiffany, a 26-year-old American college graduate, works as English teacher. Cai's kindness, honesty and warm smile touched Tiffany's heart, and the pair fell in love last year. They held their wedding banquet in Cai's rural hometown. (Dongfang Jinbao) Women's restroom thief caught, handed to cops Women in Kaifeng, Henan province, have hesitated to use the city's public rest-rooms recently owing to the thieving, sexual harassment on such premises. The culprit surnamed Wang had committed robberies and sexually harassed women in public restrooms several times prior to his encounter with a woman who gave her name as Xiao Hong. Wang burst into the restroom Xiao Hong and her daughter were using one day, wielding a knife and demanding her cash. When Xiao Hong's quick thinking daughter ran to get help from her father the thief fled in panic. The pair, however, was able to subdue and hand Wang over to the police. (Dongfang Jinbao) Swimmers honor Mao's 1966 Yangtze crossing More than 1,000 people in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, swam across the Yangtze on July 16 in honor of the 42nd anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong's historic swim. The oldest participant was 74 years old, the youngest just 10. The four-km stretch of the river took each swimmer, some of whom had swum with Chairman Mao 42 years ago, at least an hour to cross. (Yangtze River Daily) College entry exam failure tries to commit suicide A young man in Xiangtan, a city in Hunan province, recently jumped into a river in a suicide attempt after failing the annual national college entrance exam three times in a row. Liu Yun, 22, graduated from high school in 2006. As his performance in the college entrance exam that year was worse than he expected, he decided to take the exam again. His results last year, however, were even worse, so he tried again this year. Upon hearing that the results of this year's exam were still not good enough to get him into college, he became very depressed. The unhappy young man's family fortunately guessed his suicidal intentions, and he was saved by firefighters. (Changsha Evening News) Handbag snatchers fall neatly into honey trap A young woman in Hubei province set up and helped capture the thieves who snatched her handbag, containing her money and cell phone, a few days ago. Ye Zi was just one of many victims that the thieves had robbed during a week-long robbing spree. Deciding to set a trap for the thieves, she sent an SMS to her robbed cell phone inviting the two felons out on a date. The thieves fell hook, line and sinker for her honey trap, and when they turned up for their "date", police caught and summarily arrested them.
