Updated: 2008-07-25 07:27 Aftershock hits Sichuan An aftershock measuring 6 on the Richter scale jolted west China yesterday afternoon, the China Earthquake Networks Center said. The tremor hit at the juncture of Ningqiang county in Shaanxi province and Qingchuan county in Sichuan province at 3:05 pm, with the epicenter at 32.8 degrees north latitude and 105.6 degrees east longitude, it said. It was the third tremor to hit the area in 24 hours, it said. The first, measuring 5.6, hit at 3:54 am, followed by a 4.9 aftershock at 1:30 pm, the center said. One person was killed and 10 were injured in the first quake, the emergency response office of the Ningqiang county government said. (China Daily 07/25/2008 page3) |
