China's disabled athletes are ready to share the limelight with their able-bodied counterparts this summer as the country's 547-member delegation was named yesterday.
"It is the largest team in China's Paralympic history, and we also boast the largest delegation of any country at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics," said China's Paralympic spokeswoman Zhao Sujing.
The delegation is made up of 332 athletes - 197 men and 135 women aged from 15 to 51. They come from all parts of the country and all walks of life - there are farmers, students, freelancers and government servants. China has 82.96 million people with disabilities making up 6.34 percent of the population.
