SocGen donates funds, facilities to stricken area

By Fu Yu | China Daily | Updated: 2008-07-14 07:16

Liang Qiang, a 16-year-old hero who ran 20 km to rescue his young friends during the Sichuan earthquake, reveled in a tour to the nation's capital last month sponsored by the Beijing branch of France's second-biggest bank - Socit Gnrale (SocGen).

It was the first time he tasted pizza as he ate with a dozen staff volunteers from the bank and had a face-to-face meeting with the people who helped quake victims.

He was invited to visit on the second day of SocGen's citizenship week, a global initiative that encourages staff participation in philanthropy and sponsorship.
