First ladies get wishes at summit

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's wife Laureen rides a Toyota Motor Corp i-REAL concept vehicle at the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit held in Sapporo, on Japan's northern island of Hokkaido yesterday.

Leaders of the Group of Eight (G8) countries and the first ladies made wishes on Monday in line with the Japanese tradition on Tanabata, or the Star Festival, by writing them down on pieces of paper hung out on bamboo shrubs.
