Rottweiler gives birth to 17 pups

A 3-year-old Rottweiler owned by a man surnamed Wei from Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, whelped 17 pups on Saturday.

This was no mean feat, as "It took the mother a total 27 hours to give birth to them all," Wei said, "but mother and pups are now doing well."

"It's really unusual for a pet Rottweiler dog to whelp such a large litter," Xu, an expert from the local chamber of commerce of the pet industry, said. He advised the owner to make sure the pups have ample nourishment in order to grow healthily in the days ahead.

Great future predicted for China's first junior BA

Zhang Xinyang, 12, became on Saturday Tianjin University of Technology and Education's youngest BA. He is also the youngest student ever to graduate in the country.

Zhang completed all the courses in his 4-year mathematics major within 3 years.

"He will become a student of great promise in years to come if he continues to study as hard as he did in our college," Zhang Yuehui, one of his mentors in Tianjin municipality, said.

Police warning to non-suicide pact lovers

To observers in the street below, the two young people sitting on top of a seven-story building in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province, with their legs dangling over the edge appeared to be lovers about to fulfill a suicide pact. Consequently the police were called in.

Police officers, after stealthily climbing the building on Monday morning to rescue the pair, were astounded when the young lovers told them that they had no intention of jumping off the building, but were merely enjoying the cool morning air.

Police officers nevertheless took the couple to the station for questioning. They advised them against cooling off in this manner in future as they risked a fatal fall.
