Shanghai older than first thought
Recent findings at an historical site in Guangfulin, Songjiang district, suggest that Shanghai's urban history goes back 2,700 years. Findings from previous archaeological excavations raised 751 AD as the date the metropolis was established.
About 6,000 sq m of the 100,000-sq-m site has been excavated. Cultural relics on display last week include a tomb, housing site, wooden architecture, rice husks, rice and bronze ware.
