Updated: 2008-07-04 07:37 Great Wall survey China will finish surveying the length, height, and distribution of the Great Wall this year, using satellite and digital technologies, sources at the 21st Congress of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, said yesterday in Beijing. Scientists will then use the data to restore maps and pictures of the Great Wall at the time of ancient China. The country plans to produce a map on a scale of 1:50,000 of its 2 million sq m of land in western China, where the lack of an accurate map has hindered development. (China Daily 07/04/2008 page4) |
