Lenders' dividends
M&T Bank Corp and Bank of New York Mellon Corp may boost dividends in the next year, while Citigroup Inc and Regions Financial Corp are in danger of reducing payouts, data compiled by Bloomberg show.
M&T Bank, 6.1 percent owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc, and Bank of New York, the largest US custodian of investment assets, are the only two banks in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index projected to raise dividends, according to the data that collects options prices, profit forecasts and analyst recommendations. Both companies reported 15 percent gains in first-quarter profits.
