Updated: 2008-07-02 07:38 Court forced to exact damages A village committee in Dongguan, Guangdong province, was fined 200,000 yuan ($29,000), on Thursday after failing to execute a March court ruling. Court police directly deducted the amount of the fine from the village bank account. The Gaobu village committee of Gaobu township was taken to court and instructed to pay out 24,210.72 yuan in compensation to villager Liu Xiaosou, who was left disabled last year after a wall being bulldozed during a reconstruction project fell on him. Liu filed a lawsuit for compensation after being discharged from hospital, on the grounds that the village committee should have put up a warning sign to pedestrians in front of the construction site. Dongguan Intermediate People's Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff last March, but the village committee failed to execute the verdict. (Information Times) Students questioned about candid shots Three male university students at Hainan Normal University in the provincial capital have been detained by police for questioning after reportedly taking candid photos of about 100 female students The male students in question stay in the dormitory facing that of the unwitting photographic models. More than 300 such photos, some of which reveal female students in states of undress, have been published on the Internet. Female students whose images appear online have called in the police. The case continues. (Hainan Special Zone Daily) SAR govt urged to build Bruce Lee museum Bruce Lee fans in Hong Kong special administrative region (SAR) are urging the SAR government to build a museum dedicated to their hero. The suggestion arose after 86-year-old Hong Kong philanthropist Yu Pang-lin decided to auction off the former residence of Bruce Lee to raise fund for Sichuan earthquake victims. Lee's children and relatives endorse the suggestion of a Bruce Lee theme museum in which to celebrate, study and display the culture and spirit of this kungfu legend who died in 1970s.
