 CPC members' number rises to 74.15m

Updated: 2008-07-02 07:37 The number of Communist Party of China (CPC) members reached 74.15 million at the end of last year, up 2.78 million over 2006, according to the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. And the number of grassroots CPC organizations reached 3.66 million, an increase of 99,000. Since the 16th CPC National Congress in 2002, about 13.16 million new members have joined the Patry. Statistics show 15.12 million, or 20.4 percent, of the members are women; 4.79 million, or 6.5 percent, are from ethnic minorities; 17.30 million, or 23.3 percent, are under 35 years of age, and 39.02 million, or 52.6 percent, are between 36 and 59.
