Hours before the 2008 NBA draft, the Milwaukee Bucks traded China's Yi Jianlian, drafted No 6 overall last year, along with forward Bobby Simmons to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for all-star forward Richard Jefferson.
The move indicates the Bucks are looking to win sooner rather than later and do not want to wait for Yi to develop further.
In his rookie year Yi averaged 8.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in 66 games for Milwaukee. The 28-year-old Jefferson, picked No 13 in the 2001 draft, averaged 17.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists in seven seasons with New Jersey, including a career-high 22.6 points last season.
