Legislative push

China Daily | Updated: 2008-06-28 07:22

The draft law on the recycling economy that lawmakers deliberated on is of vital importance to China's efforts to build a resource-conserving society.

At present, the central government is trying hard to save energy and cut pollution. Prompt legislation on the recycling economy will add needed momentum to the goal of sustainable development.

The National People's Congress, the top legislature, should press ahead with the task to put in place a law that can effectively goad people into optimizing utilization of resources.
