Ranked as one of the most mobile populations, roughly 11 million (over 10 percent of) Filipinos live abroad.

The international movement has even become a well-known cultural characteristic through the terms "Global Filipino" and "Overseas Filipino worker" (OFW), which were created specifically to describe those living abroad.
