Profitable first year

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd, Southeast Asia's largest phone company, paid Chua Sock Koong (above) S$3.57 million ($2.6 million) in her first year as chief executive officer.

Chua, who took the helm in April 2007, received a base pay of S$1.15 million and a bonus of S$2.34 million for the year ended March 31, the Singapore-based company said in an annual report.
