Stocks rise in Europe, US futures gain
European stocks rose after one of Nokia Oyj's biggest suppliers said mobile-phone demand is strengthening and European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said he hasn't signaled a series of interest-rate increases. US index futures and most Asian shares advanced.
Nokia had its biggest gain in two months as Jabil Circuit Inc posted a six-fold increase in profit.
Europe's Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index advanced for the first time in six days, adding 0.9 percent to 295.03 at 12:38 pm in London. Futures on the Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 0.6 percent. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index decreased 0.2 percent.
