Fishermen across Japan are set to strike next month in protest against rising fuel prices, in a strike that could deprive sushi restaurants and supermarkets of popular tuna, mackerel and squid.
The National Federation of Fisheries Co-operative Associations, comprising around 1,100 groups of which most of Japan's 200,000 fishermen are members, plans to suspend fishing operations on July 15 and 16, the Nikkei financial daily said.
