When the going gets tough, the tough save and stretch

Rising prices have been hitting the poor and low-income in many Chinese cities hard.
But instead of sitting idle and complaining about the tough times, many are devising creative ways to save and stretch their yuan.
They are "picking up the net to catch the fish", as the saying goes, rather than counting on more subsidies from the authorities.
