Ronaldo fee would not frighten Real, Zidane says

China Daily | Updated: 2008-06-24 07:57

VIENNA: Real Madrid would be ready to pay Manchester United a world record fee to bring winger Cristiano Ronaldo to the Bernabeu, former Real favorite Zinedine Zidane said on Sunday.

Ronaldo's future has become the focus of intense speculation, with Real reported by Spanish media to be prepared to offer well in excess of the world record 78 million euros ($121.1 million) they paid Juventus for Zidane in 2001.

"Real would not be frightened of paying a large sum of money because in the past every time they have wanted a player they have managed to bring him to Madrid," Zidane told a news conference.
