China Daily North America edition published
A China Daily delegation headed by publisher Jiang Muyue arrived in San Francisco to celebrate the publication of the paper's North American edition.
More than 300 people, including guests from the local government, entertainment industry, Stanford University, and relevant Chinese staff, attended the occasion at which Jiang hoped the paper will contribute its bit to further understanding between the Chinese people and the people of America and Canada.
The delegation also visited a few cities and discussed developing journalism in the electronic age with their American counterparts.

Energy development needs more transport facilities
The government has focused on two coal slurry pipelines that will transport northern and western coal to fulfill industrial consumption in southern and eastern areas, in a bid both to relieve railway's burden and to further develop the energy industry.
Senior energy expert Sun Yueqi said building transport facilities like railways, ports and coal slurry pipelines is vital to modernize the country's coal industry.
Sun also suggested involvement of individual investment and Chinese-foreign joint ventures in the coal industry's development.
First Sino-Italian space project
The inauguration of Sino-Italian joint experiments with Italian satellite Sirio was just celebrated in Beijing.
It marks the first co-operative program in space technology between the two countries.
The experiments will provide data and experience for developing broadcasting, television and communications skills through the satellite.
