All the tees in China
So, what does a cool T-shirt look like, anyway? Twelve esteemed artists from around the world answered the question this week in their contributions to a new Giordano Tee project. The special T-shirt collection themed a 'world without strangers' include designers Filip Pagowski and Saiman Chow from United States, Hidekichi Shigemoto from Japan, Ann Xiao from the United Kingdon, Benny Luk and Rex Koo from Hong Kong, Cai Kia and WZL from China and Stanley Tai from Taiwan.
"As Beijing will host the 2008 Olympic Games, the city will gather numerous guests from around the world. We hope using a T-s, an everyday wearable item, will take us one step closer to creating a 'world without strangers'," said Giordano Tee project organizer Ma Zhuo'an.
Using traditional Japanese ink and brush drawings, Shigemoto brought his unique style of new ink painting to the T-shirt. With dry-brush scratching and dying techniques, the artist aims to convey a sense of rhythm and excitement in the sports field through images of running people.
