The renovated Front Gate (Qianmen) street was formerly the entry point to the Imperial City when it was built in 1439. It will open before the Olympics.

If you ride a glider down the central axis in Beijing, you'll cross all the great halls in Forbidden City and pass through the immense Tian'anmen Square. Right after you fly over the Front Gate (Qianmen) Rostrum, you'll be hovering over a brand new street, or more accurately, a newly renovated street - in classic Beijing style.
