Company boss given death

A company owner was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve yesterday for swindling 33.27 million yuan ($4.8 million) through illegal fundraising.

Xu Guancheng, who owns Beijing Guancheng Co and Nanjing Guancheng Co, both in Jiangsu, was found guilty by the Nanjing Intermediate People's Court of conning the money from 829 people between January 2004 and March 2005.
