For migrated schoolmates

China Daily | Updated: 2008-06-16 07:35

Students in quick-hit areas may migrate to eastern cities for schooling, says an article in Beijing News. The following is an excerpt:

With the danger from the Tangjiashan quake lake having been eliminated, quake victims in Mianyang and Suining now can go home to have a good sleep and the reconstruction of quake-hit areas can start as scheduled. An important aspect of the reconstruction is education. We can take some time to build new houses, restore the infrastructure facilities, but education cannot be delayed and must be resumed as quickly as possible.

The restoration of quake-hit areas' education involves overcoming many difficulties. In the areas that were severely hit by the quake, a great number of school buildings collapsed; in those that are less severely hit, many school buildings have now been in danger though they did not collapse. It is a practical challenge for students to resume school education in quake-hit areas. Even if we have enough money to rebuild destroyed school buildings, it will take a long time to choose a new site and complete constructions.
