It's hard to believe Sodagreen was considered the best "indie" band on the island at the Taiwan Indie Rock Awards back in 2004. Since then, Sodagreen has undeniably risen to mainstream fame - winning fans far and wide with their mellow, exquisitely-arranged rock numbers and distinctive vocals.

Beijing fans will get the chance to scream the words to their favorites songs with the band as they perform this weekend at the Beizhan Theater.

After releasing their second album Little Universe in 2006, the band went on to win Best Band and Best Lyricist at the 2007 Golden Melody Awards.

The Taiwanese Sodagreen band was formed in April 2001 by vocalist (Greeny) Wu Qingfeng and He Jingyan on guitar. The six-member band also performs live with a four-person string section. Their music is fuses indie pop and light rock - offering a viscous rocker-pop love ballad feeling.

The magnetism originates with their tight, poppy musical hooks and vocals as well as Wu's songwriting. His voice, which at times pierces through some high registers, manages to maintain a clear yet quirky timbre.

Sodagreen will be in Beijing for two shows on June 14 and 15.
