STAGE
The Royal Swedish Ballet, founded in 1773 by King Gustav III, is one of the world's oldest and most prestigious ballet companies. The ballet classic Swan Lake has played a significant role in its history. British-born Mary Skeaping added Swan Lake to the company's repertoire when she was appointed master of the ballet in 1953. Skeaping worked tirelessly to take the company to new heights of professionalism that crystallized in its performance of Swan Lake.

The drama, Marriage Scene, is an adaptation of Ingmar Bergman's Golden Globe winning film Scenes from a Marriage, which he wrote and directed in 1973. The drama candidly portrays marital relationships in all their complexity, plotting the course of separation, extramarital sex, bonding, re-bonding and eventual divorce. Bergman's film was banned in Europe because of its negative social impact, evident in a sharp rise in the divorce rate.

Agatha Christie's murder mystery The Mousetrap is soon to be performed in Chinese. London's longest-running West End show, which has been performed 23,000 times over the last 56 years, is being produced, directed and performed by an all-Chinese team. Native-English-speaking audiences, therefore, may never discover "whodunnit" as there are no accompanying subtitles.

The Shanghai opera Luxiang tells the story of embroideress Gu Luxiang from Songjiang district, whose embroidery won a gold award at a 1990s world fair. This Huju Opera was created specifically to reflect the historical connection between Shanghai and the World Expo, which will next be held in Shanghai in 2010.

CONCERTS
Members of the Finnish Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1990, comprise musicians at the forefront of Finnish music. The orchestra's international tours have included performances in the UK, France, Germany and the United States. Its performance repertoire includes classic pieces such as Symphony No 6 in D Minor Op 104 and Symphony No 5 in C Minor Op 67.

The 18-year-old Chinese pianist Zhang Haochen is regarded, along with Li Yundi and Lang Lang, as one of the most promising of his generation. Zhang has displayed outstanding musical talent since childhood, having given his first piano recital at the age of five. World renowned piano master Gary Graffman acknowledged him as a "real genius."

Exhibitions
The exhibition of around 40 pieces by Pop Art icon Andy Warhol has been called "the most important show of Warhol in China." All of the works on display are for sale, at prices that are believed to range from $30,000-400,000.

This year has been dedicated to L.E. Hudec (1893-1958), the Hungarian architect who was largely responsible for creating Shanghai's distinct cityscape in the 1920-30s. Hudec designed more than 60 buildings, among them the Park Hotel, Moore Memorial Church, Grand Theater, Union Brewery and Wu's House, all of which are still major Shanghai landmarks. The exhibition also focuses on L.E. Hudec the man, and his long journey from Hungary to China that culminated in his recognition as one of the most influential architects of the 20th century.
