Team recounts saddening tales of bravery, self-sacrifice

One month to the day of the earthquake, people told stories in Beijing yesterday of saving lives, acts of bravery, self-sacrifice, and the suffering of thousands.
A team comprising a teacher, doctor, solider, army officer, reporter, a local Party secretary, and a firefighter represented hundreds of thousands of people still working in Sichuan province on relief and reconstruction. They recounted stories that held the audience in awe and sadness in the Great Hall of the People.
Liu Yachun, principal of the Beichuan High School, which collapsed killing many students, told of how teachers had risked their lives to save students.
