Husband sent to jail for biting wife's nose
A court has sentenced a man to three years in prison for biting his wife on the nose during a domestic dispute.
Migrant worker Chen Gang was sentenced in the Fengtai district of Beijing last Tuesday.
The court ordered Gang to pay a fine of 67,819 yuan ($9,767).

Police save snake-bitten poacher, press charges
Ju Wentao, a poacher stalking wild boars in a remote region of Heilongjiang province, fell ill after being bitten by a venomous snake.
The man then sought help from local police, who rushed him to a hospital for treatment last Thursday.
When Ju is released from the hospital, police plan to take him into custody for poaching.

Man's drunken detour turns deadly
One night a man from Jilin province stumbled home drunk to the wrong apartment and begun banging loudly on the door, demanding that it be opened for him.
Da Qiang, the man who in fact lived in that apartment, opened the door angrily and knocked down his drunken visitor.
Da's son later saw the man again, this time lying downstairs and apparently not breathing. Local police rushed him to the hospital but doctors were unable to save him.
So far, no one has been charged with any crime.

Beijing cabbie gives sick woman free rides
An elderly Beijing woman surnamed Li suffers from acute symptoms of kidney failure.
For 12 years a generous cab driver, 54-year-old Wei Yong, has driven Li to the hospital for regular medical treatments, mostly free of charge.
Touched by Wei's generosity, his cab company recently arranged for four other drivers to help escort Li to the hospital on alternate days.

Woman's suicide attempt injures 14 others
Last Wednesday, after quarreling with her boyfriend, a woman from Beijing's Chaoyang district tried to kill herself by inhaling gas from a stove pipe she had opened in her apartment.
One of her friends placed a worried call to the police.
The authorities sent a keymaker to open the door for firefighters. A gas explosion happend soon after the rescuers entered the apartment. Fourteen people were injured. No one died, including the young woman who had attempted suicide.
