Man arrested for sneaking into neighbor's home
A man who snuck into his neighbor's house has been sentenced to four months in prison and slapped with a 1,000 yuan ($143) fine.
The man surnamed Dai was sentenced in Shanghai last week.
After Dai realized his neighbor forgot to lock his door before leaving, Dai went in and started scouring the place for money and valuables.
But the neighbor remembered he had left his door unlocked and suddenly turned back.
Dai quickly hid under a quilt, but was soon discovered by his neighbor.

Subway commuters attacked by mosquitoes
Shanghai subway authorities are vowing to better maintain the system's cars and platforms after commuters complained they were attacked by mosquitoes.
No 8 Line subway riders said mosquitoes recently swarmed around them on the platform and subway cars.
Subway staff found the mosquitoes coming from a construction site at the No 7 Line.
They promised to regularly spray insecticide and keep the cars clean to better serve passengers.

Swimmers go the distance to raise awareness
A group of swimmers from Jiangxi province spent nearly two weeks wading through the waters to get across Ganjiang River last week.
The group of 18 swam a distance of 700 km to raise awareness of the need to protect the province's main river - and to welcome the 2008 Beijing Games.
The swimmers, which included five females and a 71-year-old, swam for an average of five hours each day.

Bird to be freed after full recovery
A bird that fell from the sky is recovering well after being rescued and treated for injury in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.
The bird was found to be healthy, but its flying capability had been compromised due to a lack of vitamin B1, according to a veterinarian examination.
The bird will be set free in a couple of days when it is ready to fly again.
