Top meeting of youths opens today

The 16th China Youth League National Congress opens today in Beijing with a call on members to continue to take part in relief efforts in the earthquake areas.

The youth league has always been considered a power base for future Party leaders and each congress is usually attended by senior Party leaders.

The four-day congress will be given a report on the 15th Chinese Youth League Central Committee, it will revise the league's constitution, and elect a new Central Committee.
