Quake kills 1, 20 injured

A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.5 struck southwestern Greece yesterday, killing one and injuring at least twenty people and trapping several more beneath collapsed houses, authorities said.

The Geodynamic Institute said the quake struck at 3:25 pm local time with an epicenter on land, some 205 km west of Athens, in the northwestern Peloponnese near the port city of Patras.
