Greece is the word

Transexperiences Greece 2008, part of the Cultural Year of Greece in China, is now on at the 798 Space. It is being presented by the National Museum of Contemporary Art, in collaboration with the General Secretariat for the Olympic Utilization of the Ministry of Culture.

The coexistence of cultures constitutes the necessary condition in this age of globalization both for the production as well as the reception of contemporary art, says Anna Kafetsi, founding director of the Greek National Museum of Contemporary Art and curator of the exhibition, who was in Beijing for the opening ceremony last weekend.

The exhibition, according to the inventive title created by the late Chinese artist Chen Zhen, summarizes the open character of today's reality in the visual arts in Greece.

The exhibition presents to the Chinese and international public 23 artists from Greece and the diaspora, internationally renowned as well as young faces. On show are a wide range of genres and media such as paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations, photography and video-installations.
