Policeman takes difficult daily duties in stride

Xu Genfa stands on bridge spanning the Jianjiang River in the devastated Beichuan Qiang autonomous county.

The 53-year-old policeman's major task is to inspect the surrounding hillsides and the upper reaches of the Tangjiashan Barrier Lake.

The Mianyang public security bureau, for which Xu works, has earmarked four inspection sites in Beichuan. The one on the bridge is in the center of the county, and the closest to the lake.
