Mayor to quit as lawmaker
London's new mayor said yesterday he will formally step down as a British lawmaker to focus on his work leading the capital.
Mayor Boris Johnson told a news conference yesterday that he is leaving Parliament, a decision that will trigger a special election in the leafy southern England town of Henley, which he has represented since 2001.
