Guangdong officials under tighter scrutiny

GUANGZHOU: The people of Guangdong province will have a much greater say in the evaluation of a government official's administrative performance.
According to the final draft of a new guideline which takes effect on June 12, the administrative performance of city-level government officials and above will be subject to an annual assessment by grassroots Party representatives, deputies to the city-level people's congress, members of the city-level political consultative conference, and others.
The evaluators will number more than 200.
