Man dies of rabies 40 years after dog bite

A 45-year-old Zhejiang province man has died of rabies almost 40 years after being bitten on the leg by a dog.

The man surnamed Hu from the city of Dongyanga died at a local hospital last month.

"He didn't have any rabies vaccine when he was bitten 39 years ago and lived as a very healthy man until he showed all symptoms of the fatal illness the day before," his doctor said. "It was the longest latent case of its type we've ever seen."

Last year, the hospital received five rabies patients, who all died.

"Unluckily, none of them got any sort of rabies vaccine after they were bitten by dogs," the doctor said.

Doctors are urging people to get the shot if they have been bitten by stray animals.

Former employee arrested for stealing company goods

A man who stole products from his former work has been arrested for attempting to sell them back to the company.

Police apprehended the man surnamed Zhang last Friday in Gushan district, Fuzhou.

Earlier that morning, Zhang called a salesperson at the lighting company, saying he was interested in promoting some voltage transformers and electrical appliance boxes.

Zhang was fired from work last December for stealing company products.

The company lost over 1,000 voltage transformers and appliances boxes valued at roughly 50,000 yuan.

Zhang's offer aroused suspicion because it was identical to the company's missing products.

Soon after, the company notified police. Zhang was apprehended when he showed up at the company to meet the salesperson.

In the past six months, Zhang failed to get rid of the products. He planned on selling them back to his work to get revenge on his company for losing his job.
