Accidents top killer of kids

GUANGZHOU: More children are dying from injuries due to accidents, medical experts said here yesterday.

A survey by Safe Kids China and Shanghai Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceuticals Ltd found that about 54,000 children under 14 years old died from injuries sustained in accidents every year or about 150 a day.

"Besides the fatalities, a large number of children also suffer disabling injuries every year," Cui Minyan, director of Safe Kids China, said.
