Criticism 'unreasonable'

The Foreign Ministry has described as "unreasonable" the criticism by the US Department of State of China's democracy and human rights situation.

Asked about the US' "2008 Country Reports on Advancing Freedom and Democracy", released last Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said yesterday: "We remind the US side to pay more attention to its own human rights problems."
