Party to thank for many lives

As nearly 1.8 million members of the Communist Party of China risked their lives in the earthquake relief and rescue effort, the Party has won the hearts of 1.3 billion people.

Jiang Min, a 28-year-old policewoman, has moved the people of China with her devotion to quake victims. She lost 10 members of her family, including her only daughter, to the quake in Beichuan county.

"I had just talked with my baby on the phone," she said. But she did not leave her post in the neighboring city of Pengzhou, where she was helping displaced people.
