Ramirez belts 500th career home run in Red Sox win

NEW YORK: Boston's Manny Ramirez became the 24th major league player to hit 500 career home runs when he connected in the seventh inning of the Red Sox's 6-3 road win over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.

Ramirez drove former teammate Chad Bradford's first pitch into the right center-field seats for the milestone.

"As soon as I hit it, I knew it was gone," Ramirez told reporters. "I was happy to move on."
