"I stupidly bit my arm to make sure the most horrible thing I had ever experienced was real rather than just a nightmare. The pain I felt from the biting convinced me that it was real: our school is gone, and so are many of my schoolmates. I used to consider my school as a cage, from which I longed to fly out. But now I miss it, I miss everyone there, I miss even the trees, grass and everything."
