Liu Xiang toys with field in test event

World Champions sparkled at the "Bird's Nest" on Friday night at the Good Luck Beijing 2008 China Athletics Open.

China's star hurdler Liu Xiang cockily reached the final of the men's 110m hurdles, while women's shot put world champion Valerie Vili, from New Zealand, claimed gold in the Olympic test event.

Although a false start at the beginning made the whole stadium nervous, Liu, China's brightest Olympic gold medal hope, still finished first in his semifinal in a time of 13.47 seconds.
