Relayers send personal messages

SHANGHAI: At 8:50 am on Friday, torchbearer Ye Rong had her Olympic torch lit and set off on her 70-m run along Shanghai's renowned pedestrian shopping street Nanjing East Road.

The presenter from Shanghai Oriental Satellite TV Station waved to cheering crowds flanking the street as her yellow silk wristband danced gracefully in the air.

Born and raised in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, Ye wore the wristband as a token of support for the victims and survivors of her hometown, her mother among them.
